Yield: 6 Servings (14 oz. each)

We’ve combined the warm, comforting spices of Garam Masala with a traditional Dutch-style apple pie, topped with a buttery crumb mixture. The result? Definitely worthy of a scoop of vanilla ice cream—but delectable on its own, too.

Ingredient Weight Measure
Butter, melted, divided 8 oz. 2 sticks
Brown sugar 5.5 oz. 3/4 cup
Kosher salt 1/2 Tbsp.
Garam Masala seasoning, divided 3 1/2 tsp.
All-purpose flour 5 oz. 1 cup
Water 2 fl. oz. 1/4 cup
Flour 3 Tbsp.
Sugar, granulated 1/4 cup
Brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup
Simplot RoastWorks®: RTE Flame-Roasted Fuji Apples 6/2.5lb 40 oz. 1 bag
Golden raisins 5 oz. 1 cup
Pie crusts, 5-inch, frozen or scratch 6 each
Preparation Instructions:
Step 1
Preheat convection oven to 350˚F.
Step 2
In small bowl, whisk together 4 oz. melted butter, brown sugar, salt and 2 tsp. Garam Masala. Add 1 cup of flour with a fork to create a crumble texture and refrigerate topping. In small saucepan, combine remaining 4 oz. butter, water, flour, sugars and 1 1/2 tsp. Garam Masala. Bring to a boil stirring frequently and simmer until thickened.
Step 3
In large bowl combine the apples and raisins, toss to coat with flour mixture. Place crusts on a parchment-lined 1/2 sheet pan. Fill each crust with approximately 9 oz. each of pie filling. Top each pie with 1/2 cup (2 1/2 oz.) of the crumble. Bake for 20-22 minutes until topping and crust are golden brown.
